St. Melany's Byzantine Catholic Church is an Eastern Christian Community,
celebrating the Eucharist and other Sacramental Mysteries according to the ancient "Byzantine Rites" of the Catholic
Church. While some of the "Rites" have split off to form the Eastern Orthodox Church, we remain faithful to and
in union with the Pope of Rome. As a Byzantine Rite we enjoy our own ecclesial community with our own Eparchy (Diocese) and Bishop. The parish is part of the Metropolia
of Pittsburgh and the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy (Diocese) of Van Nuys. As a community of faith, we are committed to BELIEVING
according to the mind of the church and BELONGING to a community of faith, where the virtues of hospitality and agape love
are vibrant and visible. We also desire to BECOME holy and conformed to the Divine image, by exercising the full measure of
our Christian discipleship in accord with the spirit and disciplines of the Byzantine Catholic tradition.
